State Arts Council To Hold Workshop on Cultural Bond Initiative in Pawtucket

The Rhode Island State Council on the Arts (RISCA) announced today that it will be holding a workshop in Pawtucket on Monday, September 29 from 2pm to 4pm to discuss the Creative & Cultural Economy Bond Initiative that will appear on theNovember 4th ballot.  The workshop will be held at the Mixed Magic Theatre, located at 560 Mineral Springs Avenue in Pawtucket.

In November Rhode Islanders will have an opportunity to approve a $35 million Creative and Cultural Economy bond issue. Ballot Question #5, if passed, will provide $5 million for historic preservation projects and $30 million in support for capital improvements to Rhode Island's cultural infrastructure, including $6.9 million in competitive capital improvement grants to arts and cultural organizations.

RISCA is holding a series of community discussions on this important voter initiative.  Questions about the initiative will be answered, and RISCA will also gather information on the capital needs of arts organizations and recommendations on how the program can be managed should it be approved by the voters.

Other workshops will be held at 2nd Story Theatre in Warren (October 6), Newport Art Museum in Newport (October 27), and the RISD Museum in Providence (November 3).  All workshops are from 2pm to 4pm.
