Mayor Fung urges City Council to exercise oversight in response to Domestic Violence allegations against Cranston Municipal Judge

May 12, 2015- Mayor Allan Fung today called upon members of the Cranston City Council to monitor closely allegations of domestic assault against a Municipal Court Judge who was arrested recently by East Greenwich Police. 
The Cranston City Charter grants the Council with independent, exclusive authority over the appointment and supervision of municipal judges.  Mayor Fung is urging the Council to exercise proper oversight of the judicial arm of city government.

“Domestic violence is simply unacceptable under any circumstances period.   People and especially a public official at any level must be held accountable for engaging in this behavior.  I am calling on the Cranston City Council to monitor these allegations very closely and if they are proven to be true then to exercise their legal authority to hold this official accountable for his actions” said Mayor Fung
