Attention Restaurant and Hospitality Workers!
Please be advised the Rhode Island Department of Health has made policy changes effective March 01, 2007. In the past, the Department of Health was agreeable to extend Servsafe Certification if employees provided proof of registration/receipts for the next Servsafe class. Going forward, there is a 6 month grace period from the expiration date on your license (provided your status indicates “active”). If your certificate is not renewed within that 6- month grace period you will be required to complete the 2-day course - versus the 6- hour course normally required for recertification. The Department of Health advises that the Servsafe Certification course be taken 6 months in advance of the expiration date. Please check the dates on your certificates carefully to ensure compliance and make arrangements to complete the Servsafe course accordingly.
