The 2016 RISCA Fellowship Exhibition is on view now through March 25th at The Bannister Gallery at Rhode Island College. Gallery hours are Tuesday-Friday, noon-8PM.
Join us for a stimulating Artist's Talk and Closing Reception - and your last chance to see the Fellowship Exhibit - on Friday, March 25, 6-8PM. Open to the public, refreshments served.

RISCA's Education Roster Application is Now Online!
Annual Deadlines: April 1 and October 1
The RISCA Education Roster is a list of Rhode Island teaching artists who are vetted through RISCA's panel review process to ensure a high level of artistic quality and ability to work in educational settings. Artists are listed by discipline and are eligible for funding through RISCA's Project Grants in Education (PGE). The Roster is also widely used as a public resource by schools and educational sites. Artists can renew their listing annually, provided they remain professionally active as teaching artists. Those working in schools are also asked to complete a yearly BCI background check in accordance with Rhode Island law. RISCA's Education Roster will soon be part of NEFA's CreativeGround website, providing even broader opportunities for RI Teaching Artists regionally.
The Deadlines to apply to join the RISCA Education Roster are April 1 and October 1st of each calendar year. Artists seeking to apply for the roster will create a username and password in our online grants database. Once registered, click on the Apply button and look for the Artist Roster Application.

One Day Scholarships to Americans for the Arts Convention
Deadline March 28
RISCA is offering five one day scholarships for Rhode Island artists and arts leaders to attend the 2016 Americans for the Arts Annual Convention in Boston, June 17-19, 2016. Applications for scholarships are due March 28th.To apply, create a username and password or sign-in to RISCA's online grants system here. Announcing Rhode Island's 2016 POL State Champion!
On Sunday, March 17, thirteen student finalists from high schools across Rhode Island competed in the Poetry Out Loud State Finals. Thank you to former State Poet, Lisa Starr, for opening the event and for her inspiring talks with the participants. Each student performed two poems and five finalists performed a third selection. Austin Paulhus from Central Falls High School was selected as Rhode Island's POL State Champion! Austin will travel to Washington, DC May 2-4 to represent Rhode Island at the POL National Competition where he will compete for a $20,000 college scholarship. Poetry Out Loud is a national program sponsored by the National Endowment for the Arts with the National Poetry Foundation. Locally, Poetry Out Loud is organized by RISCA with its partners VSA arts Rhode Island and the Rhode Island Teaching Artists Center (RITAC). Congratulations to all our participants and best of luck to Austin!

See Student Films from the GiveMe5 Teen Film Lab
GiveMe5 ran Teen Film Labs in Providence and Kingston on March 5 and 12. The challenge for teen participants this year was to create 1-minute films with original sound tracks created in post production, with at least one foley sound effect. And, of course, using at least one prop from the prop table. You can view the films via Facebook or Vimeo. Congratulations to all the wonderful filmmakers for their hard work and creativity! RISCA's Latin American and Asian Art Exhibits
Calls to artists living in Rhode Island whose identity is rooted in the cultures of Latin America or Asia and the Pacific Islands. The Latin American Exhibit, titled Cultural Origins, is curated by Lilliana Fijman and will run from September 12th - October 28th, 2016. The Asian Art Exhibit titled, Never Confuse Action with Motion, is curated by Silaphone Nhongvongsouthy & Vanphouthon Souvannasane and will run from May 2-June 2, 2016. All events take place at the Atrium Gallery.

Julie Danho O'Connell, Sussy Santana, and Susannah Strong have been named MacColl Johnson Award recipients by the Rhode Island Foundation. Tina Egnoski, Kimberly Fusco and David O'Connell were named as finalists.
