Mayor Fung announces Implementation of
Cranston’s 2015 Neighborhood Tree Planting Program

Cranston, 2014-  Mayor Allan Fung today announced the implementation of The 2015 Cranston Neighborhood Tree Planting Program. This program is supported with funding provided by the City of Cranston and the RI Tree Council, a non-profit organization, will administer the program on behalf of the city.
“Cranston has a tradition of lush, green spaces throughout the city and I am proud to contribute to our natural beauty by making this program available to our residents.  I encourage all residents to take advantage of this pilot program.” Said Mayor Fung “The small, humble beginnings of this program will take root in the city and hopefully as we are able to expand it in the future, more residents will be able to participate.”

Program details

·         The trees are between 8-10 feet tall with a 4-6 foot crown spread. 

·         They will be furnished and installed in spring 2015 (April 1 – May 30) at no cost to the home-owner. (a $250 value)

·         There are ONLY 40 trees available for the spring 2015 campaign.

·         Application deadline is March 1, 2015. A free tree will be awarded to the first 40 applicants who meet the program requirements
