Participate in Arts Field Trip to Celebrate $10,000 Bank of America Grant to
State Arts Council for Big Yellow School Bus Program

Rhode Island Lt. Governor Elizabeth Roberts and Bank of America Rhode Island president Bill Hatfield will join fourth grade students from the George J. West Elementary School in Providence at the RISD Museum to celebrate a $10,000 grant from the Bank of America to the Rhode Island State Council on the Arts for its Big Yellow School Bus Program

The Big Yellow School Bus Program provides financial support to schools to provide buses for students to attend arts and cultural events during the school day.  Since 2010 RISCA’s Big Yellow School Bus Program has awarded over $41,000 to schools throughout Rhode Island, providing transportation to over 17,300 students and 1,275 teachers/adults to attend and participate in arts education opportunities throughout the state.

Bank of America has been the key sponsor of the Big Yellow School Bus Program for the past three years.  Its support has allowed thousands of students to participate in educational programs at the RISD Museum, the RI Philharmonic, Trinity Rep the Stadium Theatre in Woonsocket and at other Rhode Island arts organizations.  Many of these students are from financially-challenged schools and districts, where there are few opportunities for these kinds of important educational field trips.
